2008 Wedding Trends
Wedding
gown styles for 2008 are shifting to a high fashion focus. The mood
evident to these new styles can be described as a return to the
romantic with a modern twist. Today's bride is going for that timeless
"pretty" look with a touch of drama and a hint of sexiness.
Lace
is everywhere: in tiers, on sleeves, and on veils. It can be found in
appliques, with and without beading, on bodices, in inlays on trains,
and definitely as solid lace gowns, especially fitted styles.
Mermaid
gowns are abound, modified mermaids are the most popular, showing
fitted bodice that stretch to below the hip, with exaggerated, full,
low skirts.
Pleated and ruched bodices continue to
pave their way into the future, offering both interesting detail and
friendly camouflage for those who desire it.
At
the other extreme, slinky charmeuse dresses offer an option for those
brides that dare to bare. Slim-fitting , draping gowns are popular with
destination and traditional brides alike.
The
pick-up skirts are being reinvented -variations include asymmetrical
and partial pick-up skirts, or pick-ups seen only from the back.
Today's modern bride gravitates toward asymmetry.
Trendy
details such as flowers, brooches and other embellishments are made
trendier by situating them in the most unlikely places.
More and more, brides are learning that they can invent their own style with their gown and accessories. |
