You want a record of your perfect day, particularly as, inevitably, the event seems to rush by in a whirl and often you only see parts of it by looking at the photographs and video recordings afterwards. So it is important to arrange the services of a good and reliable photographer whom you trust to capture your day on film. You can find photographers in the telephone directory or by recommendations from friends. Ask to see examples of their work and discuss exactly what you will want on the day so that everyone is clear about the assignment and the anticipated cost. Some photographers also offer to do portfolios of glamour-type shots. You will need to book your photographer up to 12 months in advance and you should ensure that you sign a formal agreement before paying a deposit.

The same rules apply to selecting a video technician. You should check that the venue for the ceremony allows video recordings as some don’t or they may be limited to certain parts of the ceremony such as signing the register.
