Shopping Tips & Advice

APPOINTMENTS

  • We recommend appointments so that we can give each bride our best possible service. Saturdays are particularly busy, so you may wish to consider visiting on a weekday instead.

  • Choose the companions you bring along with you carefully - it is best to bring just 1 or 2 whose opinion you value and trust. Too many will give different views and may cause confusion and upset.
  • Last appointment each day is 1½ hours prior to closing for those trying on gowns for the first time.
  • Gowns are all made to order which takes time; preferably your gown should reach us at least 2 months prior to the wedding date in order to ensure that all fittings are done in a timely and orderly manner. This ensures everything is exactly to your requirements.
  • You should be ordering your gown at least 6 months before your wedding and it is quite usual to begin shopping seriously about 10-12 months prior.
  • If your timescale is less than 6 months, don’t panic - just come and see us as soon as possible as we are still able to organise some gowns at short notice ( EVEN WITHIN A WEEK IS POSSIBLE, THOUGH CHOICE WILL BE MORE LIMITED).
  • Try to be open minded about your dress style and be prepared to try lots of different styles - many brides end up choosing something completely different to that which they originally planned.
  • Our team is very experienced and will give you invaluable help and honest advice, making the most of your best assets to give you the dress of your dreams!

LINGERIE  end of line bargains

  • Every bride should give serious thought to the underwear she will be wearing beneath her wedding gown.
  • Having witnessed many disastrous strapless bras, we have researched the lingerie market quite extensively and are confident that we have arrived at the right collection to serve the needs of all sizes- from 32A to 50FF cups.
  • We are passionate about the importance of properly fitting, appropriate bras- after all, your wedding gown is likely to be the most expensive item of clothing you will ever wear, so why do it an injustice with poorly fitting, ineffective underwear?
  • Not only will the gown- and the bride- look the best they possibly can, but unnecessary alterations can also be avoided by wearing good, supportive underwear.
  • High street lingerie stores may be experienced but many fail to understand the complex lingerie needs of bridal gowns so make use of our expertise - book an appointment to discuss your bridal lingerie requirements and be fitted correctly .

BRIDESMAIDS

  • Bear in mind that we need a minimum 12-16 weeks to order gowns, and ideally a further 4-8 weeks for fitting to ensure everything is to your requirements. We can accommodate some late orders through one of our suppliers- it is worth checking!
  • Bridesmaids come in all shapes, sizes and tastes which can pose a few problems when choosing dresses for them. Not every maid will be happy to conform to the bride's preferences; many worry about their weight/ shape/ age/ colouring. Add to this the vast choice available in styles and colours, and it can cause an enormous amount of stress, anxiety and confusion. Don’t panic- we are here to help you keep control and relieve your worries.
  • If possible, take a good look around on your own - choose a few dresses you like and we will note them down for you.
  • Ask any questions you wish e.g .colour /fabric / size options/ delivery times, etc.
  • Book an appointment to return with your attendants so you can review your choices and make your final decision.
  • We can accommodate absent bridesmaids by providing you with all the measurement information that we require in order to process your order.
  • Once you have chosen, we are happy to measure and fit your bridesmaids either together or individually, should this be more convenient- there is no need for a busy bride to attend every appointment with her bridesmaids, unless she wishes to do so.
  • We are also able to arrange last minute fittings for bridesmaids who arrive from ‘foreign turf’ in the week of the wedding.
